Zelenskyy reveals details of Abramovich talks, reiterates Merz error during UK visit

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has provided further details regarding his May meeting with Russian billionaire Roman Abramovich, stating he conveyed Ukraine's readiness to meet Russian President Vladimir Putin in any format and that Ukrainian forces would not withdraw from Donbas. Zelenskyy also clarified he sent an "open letter" to Putin, citing the need to address Russian society's perceived detachment from the conflict. An informed government source indicated Russia initiated the meeting to ascertain Ukraine's peace conditions. Separately, during his June 7 visit to the United Kingdom, President Zelenskyy again referred to Friedrich Merz as Germany's Chancellor when outlining participants for an E3+Ukraine meeting, a detail media outlets previously noted as incorrect. He also stated teams had prepared for the meetings.
