Estonian foreign minister condemns drone strike on Chornobyl nuclear facility

Estonian Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna condemned Russia's drone strike on Ukraine's Chornobyl nuclear fuel storage facility, calling attacks on nuclear sites and energy weaponization unacceptable.

Estonian Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna has condemned Russia's recent drone strike on the Centralized Spent Nuclear Fuel Storage Facility (CSNFSF) in Ukraine's Chornobyl Exclusion Zone. Tsahkna stated that Moscow's targeting of nuclear sites and its use of energy as a weapon are unacceptable. This follows earlier confirmation from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy that a Shahed-type drone caused significant damage to the facility's fuel reception building, including its facade, windows, and doors, with adjacent structures also impacted. The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) acknowledged Ukraine's reports and announced that its experts would visit the damaged site on June 7 to conduct an assessment.
