SBU investigates drone strike near Chornobyl as war crime; Kherson gas station also hit
Ukraine's SBU has opened a criminal case into a Russian drone attack on the spent nuclear fuel storage facility near Chornobyl, deeming it a war crime. Separately, a gas station in Kherson was hit by a drone, injuring one employee.
Ukraine's Security Service (SBU) has launched a criminal investigation into a Russian drone strike on the Centralized Spent Nuclear Fuel Storage Facility located near the Chornobyl Nuclear Power Plant, classifying the incident as a war crime. The SBU reported that a "Geran-2" drone caused damage to buildings involved in spent nuclear fuel handling and an administrative office of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). Despite the damage, the facility's operational processes were reportedly unaffected. Separately, on the morning of June 7, a Russian drone attack targeted a gas station on the outskirts of Kherson, injuring a 44-year-old employee who sustained explosive and closed head injuries.
