Zaporizhzhia nuclear plant suffers 18th external power loss
The Russian-occupied Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP) experienced its 18th loss of external power, lasting over 15 hours and requiring emergency diesel generators for reactor cooling. External power was later restored.
The Russian-occupied Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP) experienced its 18th loss of external power since the full-scale invasion began, according to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). The facility was without off-site electricity for over 15 hours, necessitating the use of emergency diesel generators to cool its six shut-down reactors. External power was subsequently restored. IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi described this incident as one of the longest such outages at the ZNPP during the conflict, underscoring persistent nuclear safety concerns.
