UCI lifts all sanctions on Belarusian cyclists, eases restrictions for Russians

The International Cycling Union (UCI) has announced the complete removal of sanctions against Belarusian athletes, which had been in effect since February 28, 2022. For Russian competitors, the UCI has relaxed previous restrictions, now only prohibiting the display of national symbols. This decision marks a significant shift in the international sports body's policy regarding athletes from both nations, following initial bans imposed after the full-scale invasion of Ukraine. Belarusian cyclists are now permitted to compete without any limitations, while Russian athletes may participate as long as they refrain from showing their country's flag or emblems.
