Trump announces cancellation of planned strikes on Iran amid ongoing exchanges

US President Donald Trump announced the cancellation of further planned strikes on Iran, hours after threatening a "very strong" attack and amid ongoing US-Iran military exchanges.

Following continued military exchanges across the Middle East, US President Donald Trump initially announced plans for a "very strong" strike on Iran, threatening to "bomb the shit out of Iran" if a proposed agreement was not reached. He also reiterated intentions to seize Kharg Island and other Iranian oil infrastructure. American forces subsequently conducted "massive strikes" on Iranian military facilities, reportedly using several dozen Tomahawk missiles. In retaliation, Iran attacked US military sites in Bahrain and Kuwait and declared the closure of the Strait of Hormuz. However, hours after his initial threats, President Trump stated he had canceled further planned strikes on Iran. The April ceasefire between the nations was described by Trump as "the most violated in history."
