Russian forces launched a drone attack on Zaporizhzhia city on June 8, resulting in two fatalities and 18 injuries, including four children aged five, ten, and thirteen. The assault, confirmed by regional head Ivan Fedorov, struck a residential area and the city center, causing damage to residential buildings, vehicles, and trading kiosks. One incident involved an FPV drone hitting a minibus, severely damaging the vehicle and injuring a passenger. This attack follows earlier Russian strikes on Zaporizhzhia on June 7, which caused power outages and fires, and a separate guided aerial bomb attack on Balabyne village that day, killing two and injuring five. Ukrainian forces in the region reported destroying 665 Russian drones between May 31 and June 7.
