Israel and Iran exchange strikes, testing Trump's influence

Israel and Iran recently engaged in direct missile exchanges, marking the first such confrontation since a two-month ceasefire in April. Iran's armed forces announced a cessation of military operations against Israel, asserting they had delivered a "painful response" and cautioned against continued Israeli aggression, including in southern Lebanon. Despite this warning, Israel conducted air strikes in the Lebanese city of Tyre, which the Lebanese health ministry reported resulted in eight fatalities. Israeli forces also issued new evacuation orders for Tyre residents. This escalation occurred even after former US President Donald Trump reportedly urged Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to avoid further retaliation. Analysts suggest Iran's direct strike, in response to actions against Hezbollah, may signal increased resilience from Tehran and has tested Trump's influence over the conflict.
