EU to open accession cluster for Ukraine and Moldova on June 15

The European Union will officially commence accession talks with Ukraine and Moldova on June 15, initiating the "Foundations" cluster during intergovernmental conferences. This cluster focuses on rule of law, public administration reform, and democratic functions. Meanwhile, the UN Human Rights Monitoring Mission in Ukraine reported a significant increase in civilian casualties for May 2026, with 274 deaths and 1,763 injuries, marking the highest figures in four years. Concurrently, EU intelligence services have confirmed reports that China trained Russian military personnel on its territory, some of whom were subsequently deployed to Ukraine, despite Beijing's denials.
