China criticizes new US sanctions on its companies

China's Ministry of Foreign Affairs has criticized new sanctions imposed by the United States against several Chinese companies, including tech giant Alibaba and electric vehicle manufacturer BYD. On June 9, a ministry spokesperson labeled the US actions as discriminatory and an "unreasonable suppression" of Chinese enterprises. Beijing called on Washington to correct its "mistaken practice" and affirmed its intent to take "necessary measures" to protect the legitimate rights and interests of its firms. The Pentagon's expanded list, which now includes these prominent companies, has intensified economic friction between the two global powers. This development follows ongoing disputes regarding trade and technology.
